The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Grants Administration Committee are now accepting online applications for the 2014 Bookapalooza Program. This program offers select libraries a collection of materials to be used in a way that creatively enhances their service to children and families. The collection is primarily for children age birth through 14 and includes newly published books, videos, audiobooks and recordings from children’s trade publishers.
Each year ALSC receives almost 3,000 newly published books, videos, audio books, and recordings from children’s trade publishers for consideration by selection committees for awards and notables lists. After the ALA Midwinter Meeting in January, these 2013 materials need to be removed from the ALSC office to make room for a new year of publications. The Bookapalooza Program was created to find new homes for them.
Applicants must be personal members of ALSC, as well as American Library Association (ALA) members to apply. Deadline for submissions is February 1, 2014. For more information about the award requirements and submitting the online application please visit the Bookapalooza Web page.
